We keep things lively at The Palm Desert Learning Tree Center with a variety of special events. These occasions are fun for the students, and they help you keep engaged with your children's education. To learn more about them, please contact us.
For specific scheduling information, please visit our School Calendars page.
Early in the fall, parents are invited to visit the school to learn about each teacher’s classroom operation, their objectives, direction, and expectations for the year. This night is vital in understanding what to anticipate in the upcoming school year.
An annual activity that provides the pleasures of this seasonal event. Parent volunteers assist in the general acknowledgment of Halloween costumes, make-up, and the make-believe. Parent volunteers also assist in the Trunk or Treat decorations of their cars for trick or treating. Safety tips for “Trick or Treat” are shared and a fun classroom party concludes the day.
Co-sponsored by the Parent/Teacher Club and the administration to generate needed funds to further quality programming. Fundraising items are sold by the students during these drives and the students are rewarded with prizes and sustained programs.
Dinner Night/Drive-In Movie Night (New Event)
Students and their parents, relatives, and friends come to join the fun at The Palm Desert Learning Tree Center. Enjoy dinner with all of your Learning Tree Family. Drive-In Movie night is a fun night watching a big-screen movie and enjoying concessions just like the theaters.
Sharing the love of books by promoting the best sellers, the award winners, and the classics, our school provides three annual fairs with books and related materials for all students. These fairs last one full week each in the fall and again in spring on campus and are sponsored by Scholastic Book Fairs. The third fair is a buy one/get one free!
A special time to sustain the spirit of a season and The Palm Desert Learning Tree Center family. Classroom exchanges of gifts, appreciation, and consideration of others play a large part towards each season of celebration. Parent support and assistance help acknowledge Thanksgiving, Winter Holidays and the New Year, Valentine’s Day, Saint Patrick’s Day, Easter, and more!
As we prepare to receive new and interested parents and students for the next year, we offer Open House in early May to allow any and all to review classrooms and experience a bit of The Palm Desert Learning Tree Center magic as the entire school displays its very best for you.
Students invite their grandparents to a mid-morning classroom visit and lunch. The event is held on the front lawn with entertainment and refreshments.
”Batter up!” Set this day aside as we combine parent and student skills and participate in our school’s favorite sport. Come and enjoy yourself as you and your child compete in hilarious fun. All grades participate.
Campout has always been a tradition second to none. We want to start a new tradition involving both our elementary students and parents in an evening celebration at the end of the school year. Elementary students along with families will be spending a night together from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Fantasy Springs Bowling Alley. This new tradition will definitely be one remembered!! We will have pizza and sodas for a fun filled evening along with amazing raffle prizes being announced throughout the night for the lucky ticket holders.
Each year we are pleased to promote our fifth graders to the middle school they have selected. In over 40 years of service, we have been extremely proud to acknowledge in a special way and advance these fine young people to their next step in education. To mark a significant step in the life of our beginning elementary students, we annually identify our Kindergarten-prep and Kindergarten classes with a ceremony of advancement. The community, family, and friends are invited to the last activity of the year. It is held on our sports field in elegant splendor.
In conjunction with the American Heart Association, the students from The Palm Desert Learning Tree Center have, for the last twenty years, challenged themselves to jump rope continuously for three hours. Our students’ efforts are to raise money to assist in the fight against heart disease and to aid in heart research.
This event provides our students with an opportunity to display their talents in art. Several different media of art are displayed in the Junior Exhibition Building. Both TK and elementary students become award winners due to their participation.
Through the efforts of dedicated teachers, an annual spelling contest has been introduced as a part of our special activities for grades Kindergarten through Fifth.
This annual fair for students in First through Fifth grades. In the spring, students create investigative and experimental science projects that are first displayed at the school and then judged.
As the months of the school year progress, students are honored for their academic and social achievements. However, at the end of the year, all of our students are recognized for their individual accomplishments from throughout the year.
