Our preschool program is a 3-hour structured program with before and after care included in tuition.
The program is broken into four areas; Music and Movement, Language Arts, Art and Cooking, and Math and Science.
Our technology curriculum is academic-based. Our students learn keyboarding, computer functionality, computer terminology and the basics of the Internet. Our computer lab is equipped with 11 new Dell computers and is manned by an instructor who is a Microsoft Certified Professional. Our software library is extensive and continually growing.
Students will learn and work with educational programs and real world software, such as Microsoft Office. All students; Kindergarten Prep through 5th grade, attend computer lab each week. In addition, specialized after-school computer classes are offered on a regular basis including a student-produced school newspaper, yearbook cover design, science fair project assistance and graphic design.
LANGUAGE ARTS prepares students with readiness skills for reading, writing, and oral expression. We teach ABC's, shapes, colors, auditory and visual discrimination skills, and problem-solving skills providing students with a positive social learning experience.
MATH/SCIENCE prepares students with readiness skills for counting in sequence, recognition of numerals out of sequence, games, flannel board, chalkboard and other media. Through science, students perform simple experiments and activity sheets in various areas including the 5 senses, weather, nutrition, insects, spiders, birds, fish, dinosaurs, all about me and safety.
ART/COOKING creates awareness and interest for art and cooking. Reinforcement of monthly themes and opportunity for expression through creative art projects exposes each child to a unique environment of exploration and success. Children are evaluated through observation of class interest and participation after completion of various activities.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT introduces songs and rhymes that will increase the enjoyment of music, expose various styles of music through listening and introduce and identify various musical instruments. We introduce rhythmic concepts such as tempo and beat and learn to keep time with the music through clapping and rhythm instruments. To improve students coordination through exercise, dancing, finger plays, balance beam, parachute play, ball exercises, simple tumbling, and body rhythm.
Mrs. Tania Reyes (Miss Tania) I was born and raised in the Coachella Valley and have been working at The Learning Tree going on 10 years. I am the Math and Science teacher. I have earned my A.A. in Early Childhood Education at College of the Desert, and working towards my B.A. Children are a passion for me and I strive to provide a fun and enriching learning environment for them. Throughout the year we will be doing many exciting science experiments, and will be learning math through different avenues in order to promote understanding through all learning types. I sincerely look forward to getting to know all of you and your wonderful children this year.
Ms. Alexa Palmer (Miss Alexa) I have been here at The Learning Tree for 9 years and I teach Language Arts at the preschool level. I am happy to be teaching your children in what I call the “Age of Wonder”. Children absorb everything at this age and love to learn and discover new things each day. My educational background has taken me to the Claremont College where I earned my B.A. in Liberal/Performing Arts. I studied Performing Arts at the University of London and I enjoy integrating a bit of my drama background into my class each day. I teach both an academic and creative curriculum, from tracing and identifying letters to puppet play; we have both learning and fun each day. I look forward to teaching your bright-eyed children as we journey into discovery and creative learning.
Ms. Nicole Mendoza (Miss Nicole) I am the Music and Movement teacher and have been at The Learning Tree for 6 years.
